overview
The Ugajinja Shrine.
The Ugajinja Shrine was opened to the public in 1762 (Houryaku 12), and the shrine is also marked “Benten (goddess of art and wisdom)” on an old illustrated map of the same period, which shows a torii shrine gate and a stone deity.
The shrine plays the role of a village shrine, welcoming the portable shrine from Shinmeisha Shrine during the festival-eve vigil of the “Hassaku Festival,” a festival of the Shinmeisha Shrine, which was rebuilt by the Ikoma clan of the Yashima domain, and sending the portable shrine back to Ugajinja Shrine during the festival.
