Hachimori-en
overview
Hachimori-en was the residence of the descendants of Doeki Sato, the founder of Ritsurin Park in Takamatsu, Shikoku. The present one-story house was rebuilt after the Boshin War, the former house having been destroyed during the war.
Built as the residence of high-ranking samurai who respected prestige, the house is characterized by guest rooms on a higher level than the rest of the building.
The two-story building was reconstructed in the Taisho era (1912-1926) over a period of three years, using carefully selected materials from abroad, which was unusual at the time. The tea ceremony room of the Enshu school is also located there. and the garden is said to have been influenced by Ritsurin Park.

Doueki-en
overview
Doueki-en was built at a total cost of 180 million yen as one of the historical exchange centers together with Hachimori-en to commemorate the friendship city affiliation with Takamatsu City in Shikoku in 2000 (Heisei 12), which was established through the relationship with Prince Ikoma.
The dry landscape garden was created by Seien Sato, a horticulturist and former mayor of Yashima Town.
The History Exchange Center is also used for exchanges with Takamatsu City under the sister city affiliation with Prince Ikoma, and with Saku City in Nagano Prefecture under the friendship city affiliation with the Oi clan, and as a place for tea ceremony and flower arrangement practice.
